Subject Leaders - Mrs Jefferies

Our Aims

Through our science curriculum, we aim to:

  • Develop curiosity and enthusiasm about the world around us, encouraging children to ask questions and explore how things work.

  • Build scientific knowledge and understanding of the world, including living things, materials, forces, Earth and space, and seasonal change.

  • Develop scientific enquiry skills, enabling children to plan investigations, make observations, carry out practical experiments and draw conclusions.

  • Encourage children to think critically, use evidence, identify patterns and explain their ideas using scientific vocabulary.

  • Promote practical learning, giving children regular opportunities to investigate, experiment, observe and make discoveries for themselves.

  • Develop confidence in asking and answering questions, encouraging children to be thoughtful, independent and resilient learners.

  • Help children understand the importance of science in everyday life and recognise how scientific knowledge contributes to our understanding of the world.

  • Inspire future scientists, nurturing a sense of wonder and encouraging children to see science as an exciting and meaningful part of their lives.
