Autumn 2
The days we do PE change each half-term. For Autumn 1, PE will be on a Tuesday and Friday.
Tuesday is Handball and Friday is Playground Athletics
Please send your child into school in their PE kit on PE days.
Forest School.
You will receive an email regarding dates for Forest School and the clothing your child will need.
The Forest School sessions take place whatever the weather, so please can children come into school wearing clothes according to the weather on that day. Lightweight, long trousers and sleeves are best to avoid irritation from plants and insects. Your child will need a pair of wellies, but we kindly ask that children do not come into school wearing them, they should come into school wearing a pair of trainers/PE pumps.
Please ensure your child has a spare change of clothes in school on Forest School days as they often get very muddy and wet.
Allergy Advice
We have children with a severe dairy allergy causing anaphylaxis in Key Stage 1.
Please do not be offended if we ask your child to get changed due to spillages of food during the day or if we ask your child to change on arrival at the start of their day.
For this reason, a full change of clothes must always be left on your child's peg and remain in school. (This does not have to be school uniform).

Book Bags
Book bags will go home on Thursdays to be returned on Tuesdays.
Your child will bring home a phonics Big Cat Collins book to read to you. Your child has read this book three times with adult support during the week. The purpose of bringing it home is to increase their fluency. Rereading is a proven way to increase their confidence in applying their phonic knowledge. They will also bring home a reading for pleasure book which is for you to read to them. If your child would like extra books to read please speak to the class teacher or make a note in their reading diary.
Home Learning Expectations In Year 1
- Reading Daily – Please do your best to read the book with your child and return it to school to be changed on your child's designated day. (Please ask us if you are not sure when this is).
- Maths – Please play lots of number games, counting games such as Snakes and Ladders and games using dice. We have also just started using Numbots – children have been given their log-in details. Please also look at the Key Instant Recall Facts (KIRFs) listed below. Your child will significantly benefit from reinforcing their learning in school by learning these with you at home.
